Who or what is RunwaySale?

RunwaySale is the biggest South African designer flash sales site. It is a members-only online shopping community that has access to affordable designer brands. We regularly host events for the top fashion brands from all over the world. Flash sales offers high-end fashion brands at a discounted price but for a limited time only. We send out notifications (emails, Facebook updates or tweets) to let our members-only community know when an event starts. Remember, these events end just as quickly as they started so you got to be as quick as flash to make sure you don’t miss out. Click on About Us to find out more.

  • How does RunwaySale work?
    We will send emails to notify you of an upcoming event. The event will run for a limited amount of time.
    • Step 1: Log on regularly to avoid missing out. Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
    • Step 2: You can find all the events under the “Shop Events” tab.
    • Step 3: Enter the event by clicking on the image
    • Step 4: Browse around a bit. Use the “Shop Now” button to get a closer look at any items.
    • Step 5: Add the items you like to your cart and once done click “Checkout”
  • How long do the events last?
    It depends on the event but usually no longer than a week. Remember to keep an eye on the website clock!
  • How do I unsubscribe from the mailing list?
    Please click on the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the newsletters received via email or via Email Preferences. Should you have any trouble with the unsubscribe link, please email us at info@runwaysale.co.za and we will assist.
  • Where can I find sizes?
    When viewing a product, sizes can be found by clicking on the "View Size Chart" link to the right of the product visual. Don't forget to go through these before you commit to a size.
  • When will the next event be?
    Apart from the emails we send out to our members, please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to make sure that you do not miss out on an event. Remember the countdown timer on the website will indicate how much time is left to buy something from the featured event.
  • How can I sign out?
    On the header, open the drop-down navigation menu and select the "Logout" option.
  • How does the checkout process work?
    Once you are done selecting items you can click on the Checkout button in the top right hand corner. You will proceed to the safe interface where you will confirm your details, addresses and payment details.
  • How can I be first to view an event?
    Make sure you like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. We will use these platforms to announce upcoming sales and events - so be first to own this valuable information.
  • How do I update my personal info if it changes?
    You can always change your details and preferences by going to My Account.
How do I buy something?

When you view an item in our featured events catalogue you can just click add to cart. Once you are done filling your shopping cart with beautiful designer pieces you can proceed to checkout by clicking on the Checkout button in the top right hand corner. You can pay by credit card or EFT.

  • What payment types do you accept?
    We accept VISA and MasterCard. We also accept EFT, RCS cards or RunwaySale credit.
  • How safe is it to shop with you?
    Extremely, our credit card checkout is SSL secure and verified through 3D Secure. RunwaySale doesn’t even get access to your credit card information and all credit card details are encrypted. Every precaution should be taken from the consumers side to ensure their details are kept safe. We don’t recommend shopping from an internet café or public computer.
  • Do you give store credit?
    Yes, we often have promotional campaigns where you can be sent RunwaySale vouchers or RunwaySale credit that can be used on your account. We also give our members RunwaySale credit for every friend they invited who becomes a buyer. When it comes to returns, you also have the choice to receive RunwaySale credit.
  • What should I do when I find it difficult to order from your website?

  • Are the items in my Cart reserved for me?
    Yes, when you add an item to cart it is reserved for 10 (ten) minutes and a timer will start counting down. You can see how much time you have left on the count-down timer by visiting your Cart page. When you add another item to your cart, the timer will be re-set and start from 10 (ten) minutes again. Once the 10 (ten) minutes have lapsed, goods may be removed from the shopping cart or reserved for other customers..
  • I tried to place an order unsuccessfully and my desired item is now appearing out of stock?
    It is possible that the sale has expired or that the item you were trying to purchase was the last one and someone else was purchasing it at the exact same time. Since we host events of such coveted fashion items there is a massive rush. Please ensure that you act quickly to avoid the disappointment of missing out on designer must haves.
  • Is there a way to view my product before it I purchase it?
    Yes, when you view the catalogue of a featured event you can click the View button on individual items.
  • Do your prices include taxes?
    Yes.
  • How do I know if my order has gone through?
    You will receive an email to confirm that you have made a purchase, as well as a follow up email with the invoice. You can also track orders under Track My Order or Order History.
  • What do I do when my credit card details are not accepted?

  • What is the status of my order?
    Please track the status of your order under Track My Order.
    Status definitions:
    • Awaiting EFT: We awaiting the POP in payment@runwaysale.co.za and we will move your order to POP Received once received.
    • POP Received: Your proof of payment has been received, your payment just needs to clear in our bank account.
    • Payment Received: Your payment has succesfully cleared, we are just waiting for the stock to arrive for your order before it is dispatched.
    • Ready for Picking: The stock for your order has arrived at our local warehouse and is undergoing quality checks. It will be dispatched shortly.
    • In Transit: Your purchase has been packed and shipped.
    • Delivered: You have received and are enjoying your purchase from RunwaySale.
  • What does sold out mean?
    It means that we have sold out of the specific item. Since these are flash sales on high end designer brands these items go as quick as a flash.
How does delivery work?
  • What is your delivery policy?
    RunwaySale works a little different to other shopping websites. Since we offer premium brands at a discount, it can take a bit longer to delivery. We offer standard delivery to everywhere in South Africa at a cost of R59 per delivery. Visit our Orders & Deliveries page for more info.
  • How long does it take for delivery?
    The delivery times change from item to item, depending on where it is being housed when you place your order. The product page for each item will give you an estimated delivery time. Some items can be shipped within one working day of placing an order, while others can take up to 20 working days. Visit our Orders & Deliveries page for more info.
  • Can my parcel be delivered to an office address?
    We deliver your order to the address specified under My Account.
  • What is the postage & handling charge on my orders?
    Our postage and handling charges vary depending on your location. We also often run free delivery promotions. Please always check out our policy when making a purchase.
  • My items haven’t arrived yet. What can I do?
    Please track your order status under Track My Order.

  • What if I am not home at the time of delivery?
    Our courier company will phone to make sure you are at home or available at the office.
  • How much is shipping?
    Our postage and handling charges vary depending on your location. We also often run free delivery promotions.
  • Where do you ship to?
    EVERYWHERE (in South Africa).
  • Where can I track my parcel?
    Please track your order status under Track My Order.
How do returns and refunds work?

On the off chance you are not 100% happy with your purchase you will be able to return it within 30 days for a voucher to be spent on our site or a full refund. Please see our Return Policy.

  • How do I return my purchase?
    Please initiate the return by going to the My Returns page on your account on our website and selecting ‘Request New Return’. You will select which items you want to return and submit the request. If your request is accepted then you will be able to choose whether you want to send the return via or Courier, the Post Office, or whether you would like RunwaySale to collect the return from you. Once we receive your return you will be refunded. View My Returns page.
  • How long do I have to return my purchase?
    You have 30 days to return the parcel. This means that within 30 days of receiving your delivery you have to submit a return request on the website.
  • How long will it take for my return to be processed?
    We will process your return within 5 days of receiving it. We will send you an email to confirm how you would like to be refunded.
  • Do I pay the shipping charge?
    Yes, when you return something you have to cover the delivery costs. Remember that since we bring you designer fashion at such a discounted rate we cannot cover shipping.
  • What reasons are allowed for returns?
    As long as you return the item in its original state and packaging with all the labels attached, you can return it for any reason. Please note:
    • We DO NOT accept returns on lingerie bottoms, earrings, fragrances and cosmetics.
    • We DO accept returns on lingerie tops, all swimwear (tops and bottoms), watches, sunglasses and jewellery (excluding earrings).
  • Do you offer a warranty on your products?
    Since we sell sale items we do not offer any sort of warranty.
  • What do I do if I receive the wrong item?
    Please log a Return for the item and indicate that you received the wrong item in the ‘Reason’ field on the Return Request form. Alternately, you can contact us at returns@runwaysale.co.za and we will sort it out for you.
What is RunwayVIP?

RunwayVIP is a new section of our website that is only available to customers that we have identified as loyal shoppers.

  • How do I become a member of RunwayVIP?
    All customers that have recently made purchases on the RunwaySale website are RunwayVIP members. When you complete a purchase on RunwaySale you will automatically be given access to RunwayVIP and can visit it immediately.
  • How long does my access last?
    RunwayVIP access is given for 3 Months following a purchase made on RunwaySale. If you make a purchase from RunwaySale or RunwayVIP during this period, your access period will start again and you will have 3 Months from that date. You can check how long your access will last on the My VIP status page.
  • Do I have to do a separate checkout and delivery for RunwayVIP items?
    No, when you add items from RunwayVIP to your cart they are combined with your RunwaySale items. There is only one cart and one checkout so you can get RunwaySale and RunwayVIP items in the same delivery.
  • How do deliveries and returns work?
    The deliveries and returns process is the same as for RunwaySale orders. Your order will be delivered in 5 - 20 days after you place the order. If you also have RunwaySale items as part of your order then the delivery time will only be calculated 5 - 20 days after the RunwaySale event ends. You can also return RunwayVIP products free of charge, as long as you log your return within 14 days of receiving the order. Certain items will not be available for return as they are clearance items, but they will be marked as such.
  • Where do I find RunwayVIP?
    If you are on a desktop computer or tablet then you will see a button at the top left of your page that says ‘RunwayVIP’. When you click on that button you will be taken to the RunwayVIP landing page, if you qualify for VIP status.

    If you are on a mobile phone, open the main menu at the top left of your page. You will see a button in the menu that says ‘RunwayVIP’. When you click on that button you will be taken to the RunwayVIP landing page, if you qualify for VIP status.
  • Why do I only see a ‘About RunwayVIP’ page when I click on the RunwayVIP button?
    If you do not qualify for RunwayVIP then you will be taken to a page with the heading ‘About RunwayVIP’. This page will tell you that you can qualify for RunwayVIP by making a purchase on RunwaySale.
How do I invite my friends?

You just click on the Invite Friends tab on the navigation bar. You can invite friends via email, or by copying your personal URL to your Facebook or Twitter account.

  • How do I know if my friends have joined?
    We can track how many friends you have invited. Once they make their first purchase we send you an email with your vouchers.
  • How do I receive vouchers from friends joining?
    Whenever one of your friends make their first purchase on our site you will receive a R50 RunwaySale voucher. If you invite 10 friends who become fashionable shoppers, it means you will receive R500 in vouchers!
How do promotions and coupons work?

    There are two types of promotional offerings at RunwaySale: Cart promotions and coupon codes.

  • What is a cart promotion?
    These are promotions that auto-apply to your cart once you have fulfilled the criteria of that specific promotion. These are promotions such as ‘buy 2, get 1 free’ or ‘Spend R1200, get R200 off’ and you will not need to add a coupon code for these promotions. When you add the associated items or spend amount to your cart, the discount will be automatically deducted from your order total. You will see this reflecting in the Order Summary on your Cart and Checkout pages.
  • What is a coupon code?
    You will be given a unique coupon code that can be redeemed at checkout to receive a discount. This is done by entering the code into the coupon code field on your Cart or Checkout page. Some coupons offer a set Rand value while others may be for a percentage off. All coupon codes are used during the checkout process. Only one coupon can be used at a time. Each coupon is different and may have very limited validity – you can check these details on the Terms of Use page.
Do you offer gift vouchers?

    Yes! You buy an online gift voucher to spend on the RunwaySale website. You can add a Gift Voucher to your cart and check out through the regular Checkout process. The gift voucher will then be emailed to the email address you add and it will contain a unique code. You can convert the gift voucher to store credit that can be used to pay for your order.

Privacy and Security
  • Does RunwaySale use cookies to track me?
    RunwaySale is as protective about your privacy as you are. We may use cookies and other tracking tools to enhance your user experience though.
  • Do you keep my credit card details?
    No, all payments are handled by our 3rd party payment gateway provider. We don’t even see your credit details when they are entered.
